Acting Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Mrs Bolarinwa Adebowale has stressed the need for proper implementation and thorough documentation of the procurement process plan, so as to ensure accountability, transparency and value for money in government spending
Doing this according to her, will also aid accounting officers as well as other stakeholders to avoid issues with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The Acting Director-General was speaking during the submission and defense of Actuals for 2025 Procurement Plan with invited Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government across the State, at the Bureau's Conference Room, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
She emphasized that, compliance with the State procurement process was crucial in spending and executing government tasks, noting that procurement activities have a ten year lifespan after execution while in service or after retirement.
" Part of the document required for the defense of actuals for the year 2025 procurement plan include completion and evaluation certificates, delivery note, store receipt voucher as well as goods received note and payment update on each contract " she said.
On his part, The Director, Monitoring, Evaluation, Compliance and Enforcement, Mr. Akindele Akinrinmade stressed the importance of engaging different vendors and contractors across the State.
He cautioned against awarding contracts to a single vendor or contractor, urging Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government to spread opportunities, so as to benefit other registered vendors and contractors across the State.
Also speaking, The Director of Digital Procurement, Research, Review and Strategic Planning , Mr. Ayomikun Akinbode outlined the procurement plan process as needs assessment and evaluation, identifying the goods, works and services required, market surveys as well as cost implications, advertisement, bid submission, bid evaluation, approvals, award and contract management.
