Thc National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has given its approval to the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta , and Federal Polytechnic Ilaro both in Ogun State as well as Yaba College of Technology, Lagos and 38 other polytechnics and monothectnics to offer new National Diploma Programme In Artificial intelligence AI , beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session
Executive Secretary of the Board, Prof. Idris Bugaje who announced the approval in a letter dated 31st August , 2026 and addressed to the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB, obtained by Edu-biznews on Tuesday, also approved that each of the institutions can only admit 80 students for the new academic academic programme
"Wishes to inform the Joint
Admissions and Matriculation Board (JANiB) that a new National Diploma
Program is being introduced in Tertiary TVET lnstitutions in Nigeria, the National
Diploma (ND) in Artificial Intelligence (AI)", he stated in the letter
Other Ogun State Government owned institutions, Gateway ICT Polytechnic Saapade in Isara-Remo, Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa and Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences were also approved to run National Diploma in AI
Also listed in the letter include Abubakar Tarari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi State, Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Uwana, Ebonyi State, College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Lafia, Nasarawa State, College of Nursing Sciences , Jos (JUTH) , Plateau State, Federal College of Agriculture and Technology, Nabanje, Katsina State, Federal Polytechnic, Bali, Taraba State, Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi State as well as Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, Yobe State and Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa State
NBTE equally accredited to run National Diploma Programme In AI, are Federal Polytechnic Nyak Agenda, Plateau State, Federal Polytechnic, Ohodo, Enugu State, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa State, Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga, Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, Katsina State, Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, Nasarawa State, Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management, Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari , Birmin-Kebbi, Minna Institute of Technology and Innovation, Niger State, Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria , Kaduna State, Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi and American College of Technology, Ibadan, Oyo State
