Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) says the absorption of 1,000 teachers from the Ogun Teach Scheme and recruitment of 2,000 fresh applicants into the teaching scheme by the State Government will enhance higher education potential of students in public seconday schools in the State
Governor Dapo Abiodun had on Thursday during the celebration of the 2023 Teachers' Day, inside the Oba's Complex within the State Secretariat in Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, approved the immediate permanent employment of the 1,000 teachers on internship programme to compliment the existing 2,000 earlier employed from the teaching scheme
The State Chairman of ASUSS , Comrade Felix Agbesanwa reacting to the development in an interview with Edu-Biznews, said the newly employed teachers would reduce the work load on the existing teachers in the classrooms in addition make students to perform better which would improve on the higher education potential of students in public schools
"We are happy with Ogun State Government for the announcement of 1,000 Ogun Teach interns , the governor also promised to employ the remaining teachers in the scheme in batches, we are because it will reduce the work load on teachers in classrooms" ,he stated
Agbesanwa expressed confidence that the lazy additional teachers would impact positively on high quality of teaching in public schools
On expectations of ASUSS from the Abiodun's administration, he called for more improvement in the coming years on what has been done by the administration
ASUSS however urged the newly employed teachers not to be lazy but be hardworking and more dedicated to teaching their students, to justify their employment into teaching service
