Ogun Assembly Worries Over Insecurity, Asks Police,Others To Tighten Security





Ogun State House of Assembly has expressed worry over the recent rising spate of crimes by suspected Cultists in some parts of Abeokuta metropolis,the state capital

Olakunle Oluomo presiding over plenary on Thursday in Abeokuta, charged police and other security formations in the State to rise up to the task, by stemming the tide of cult-related killings, armed robbery and illegal activities of street urchins popularly called area boys

Oluomo noted that their activities had continued to throw residents into palpable fear, thereby affecting the socio-economic activities in the communities.

He enjoined the members of the communities to join hands with security agencies in the State through exchange of intelligence and information to rid the areas of criminal elements

The Speaker was responding to the submission of a member representing Abeokuta South II State Constituency, Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, who spoke under Personal Explanation on the various attacks and terror being unleashed on the people by criminals, who bore arms and ammunitions with impunity in some areas within his constituency.   

Oluomo urged the people to ensure sustained synergy with security operatives and offer credible and timely information to them, towards aiding their operational strategies to checkmate the activities of the criminals.

He tasked the Community Development Councils and Associations to liaise with members of the vigilante in their respective communities, towards ensuring increasing monitoring and patrol of the entire constituency.  

Earlier in his submission, Ademuyiwa had lamented the unlawful act of the criminality being perpetrated with impunity by armed robbers, cultists and street urchins in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, who often forced many road users and traders to shut down their businesses, calling for improved security with a view to protecting lives and property.

Edu-Biznews recalled that some suspected Cultists in large number riding on motorcycles last Tuesday, unleashed attack, maiming and killings in Aladesanmi junction in Asero, Oke-Lantoro/Elite Road and some other areas of the city
