Governor Dapo Abiodun has explained the reason for the closure of the Ogun State owned ,Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun-Ijebu-Ode
Edu-Biznews recalled that the management of the university on Friday shutdown the campus, following the protest by the institution's students against the arrest of some of their Colleagues by soldiers
Speaking on the issue of the soldiers and the current situation in the Tai Solarin University of Education, Abiodun revealed that some of the students of the institution were arrested for alleged involvement in advanced free fraud
His words,“the information we had is that some students were arrested outside their campus and the allegation against them was that they were involved in advanced free fraud".
" The military have this operation called 'Operation Still Water', it is an operation launched by the Military that has among other things, responsibility to look into those that are involved in drugs, advanced free fraud and other economic crimes. It is under this operation that they picked up some students of the institution", the governor stated .
According to him," The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have also brought to my attention that it is coming to Ogun State to have a stakeholder’s meeting with our students and parents before they swing into action"
Meanwhile the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) had threatened to relocate to the State, if the arrested students are not released immediately
