Hope rises for the completion and operation of the Abeokuta 250-bed hospital located at Oke-mosan, one of the legacy projects not completed by the immediate past government in Ogun State in May, 2019
Governor Dapo Abiodun whose administration had considered public, private partnership approach in handling the project, gave the strong indication that the hospital project would be completed between now and the next six to eight months
Abiodun was speaking on Friday in Abeokuta during the Ogun central stakeholders virtual town hall meeting, ahead of preparation for the 2022 proposed budget
"In our usual style of being committed to all abandoned projects that have economic importance, we have received offers from public private potential partnership to complete this hospital and also manage it’’, the governor stated
In his remarks, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo who commended the quality of work done on the Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway, also acknowledged the massive improvement of the water works in the city.
Alake, while lauding the Governor for his support to the Adire industry, urged the government to as a matter of urgency find a solution to the low quality, and cheap Adire fabric coming into the country from China.
" I want to thank the Governor that in the last two years, what he said he would do, particularly with roads, he has done them and even the quality of road we are getting now from the Interchange to Abeokuta is much better than what we thought we would get, it is so smooth all the way.
" With water, he has told us what he has done with the Iberekodo Water works, since it was built in 1962, nobody has done much to raise the quality of what it produces”, the monarch stated.
In their remarks, former Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Titi Oseni-Gomez and Senators that represented Ogun Central in the Senate, Senators Lanre Tejuoso and Gbenga Obadara applauded the Governor for embarking on projects abandoned by the past administration, as well as the quality of work done on the Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway, not leaving behind the agriculture and housing initiative of his administration.
Former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Tunde Lemo, urged the Governor not to mind pessimists, but to continue with his great works, acknowledging him for managing the little financial resources in his care.
