Prof Chika Yinka-Banjo Becomes UNILAG's Pioneer Director of AI University Innovation Pod

Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in the Department of Artificial Intelligent Systems and Robotics, Faculty of Computing and Informatics, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Chika Yinka-Banjo, Ph.D., has been appointed as first Director of the AI University Innovation Pod, (AI UniPod) at the university 

The two-year appointment period according to a statement by the university, has taken effect from Monday, March 16, 2026 till Wednesday, March 15, 2028.

Professor Yinka-Banjo, who is also the coordinator of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab (AIRLAB), UNILAG, brings to the role, a wealth of experience in artificial intelligence, robotics, data science, and intelligent systems, with a strong track record in research, innovation, and capacity development. 

Her leadership is expected to further strengthen the Pod as a hub for cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the advancement of artificial intelligence solutions that address real-world challenges.

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, on behalf of the University community, heartily congratulates Professor Chika Yinka-Banjo on her appointment and wishes her a successful tenure.
