The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has expressed excitement over the Gateway International Airport recently commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, within the Iperu-Ilishan-Remo axis of Ogun State, describing the project as a pride and one of the most defining legacies of Governor Dapo Abiodun CON, after seven years in office.
Ogun State Chapter Chairman of MURIC , Ustaadh Tajudeen Jimoh Alao who expressed the excitement in a statement made available to Edu-biznews on Sunday by the State Secretary of the group, Ambassador Olaleye Rasheed Damilare, however called on President Tinubu, particularly Governor Abiodun, a Christian to ensure fairness, inclusion, and justice in leadership of the State by ensuring a worthy Successor, who is a Muslim in 2027
The Muslim rights group maintained that the journey towards equity must continue in 2027, saying the journey should be seen as an opportunity not for division, but for balance.
According to MURIC , It will be a double celebration, if a Muslim governor succeeds the current administration.
The group in the statement, described the call as a moral appeal and not just a political position, saying the position is not born out of sentiment, nor is it driven by partisanship. It is rooted in the universal principles of justice and equality.
The statement further reads in part:
*While we wholeheartedly congratulate Governor Dapo Abiodun CON on this landmark achievement, we submit that true progress is not measured by projects alone, but by fairness, inclusion, and justice in leadership.*
"And so, as Ogun State celebrates, a question quietly echoes across its towns and communities:*
*What comes next?*
"MURIC Ogun State firmly believes that the journey toward equity must continue. And in 2027, that journey presents an opportunity, *an opportunity not for division, but for balance"
*It will be a double celebration, if a Muslim governor succeeds the current administration.*
This position is not born out of sentiment, nor is it driven by partisanship. It is rooted in the universal principles of justice and equality.
Let it be clearly stated that MURIC does not present a candidate. MURIC does not promote zoning sentiment.
Whether from Yewa, Egba,Remo, Ijebu, or any other region, our position remains unchanged:
Competence must meet fairness. Representation must reflect diversity. And in this moment, *balance demands a Muslim governor.*
Ogun State is blessed with capable, credible, and visionary Muslim leaders.* The call, therefore, is not to search endlessly, but to recognize what already exists.
As political permutations begin to unfold and parties strategize for the future, one reality must not be ignored:Any political structure that dismisses this call for balance does so at its own risk.
"Because this is not just a political position,It is a moral appeal,It is a demand for equity,It is the voice of a people seeking inclusion"
"As the lights shine on the Gateway International Airport, illuminating the skies of Ogun State, let that same light shine into the conscience of its leadership", the statement concluded
