Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has charged lecturers, students and other staff of the university to use the period of Easter celebration to reflect deeply on the enduring values exemplified by Jesus Christ , including love, humility, forgiveness, patience, and selfless service to humanity
These virtues according to her, are not only essential to the spiritual growth but also serve as important guiding principles for building a peaceful, united, and progressive society.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the charge in a congratulatory message on behalf of the Management, Staff, and Students of the institution to all Christian faithful within the University community on the occasion of the 2026 Easter celebration
She described Easter as one of the most sacred seasons in the Christian calendar.
"It is a time that reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, His victory over death, and the promise of eternal life through His resurrection"
"This solemn and joyous celebration offers us a valuable opportunity to renew our faith, strengthen our hope, and embrace the joy and reassurance that come with Christ’s triumph over the grave"
"Let us also remember to extend kindness and compassion to those around us, especially the less privileged. By reaching out to others in love and generosity, we demonstrate the true meaning of Easter and contribute positively to the wellbeing of our community and the nation at large"
"As we celebrate this sacred season, may the message of Christ’s resurrection bring renewed peace, joy, and spiritual upliftment to every heart and home", she stated
