Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU), Mr Babatunde Ogala , SAN, OFR, together with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, staff, students, and alumni of the University have congratulated one of its distinguished alumni, Mr Tunji Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector General of Police of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, replacing Kayode Egbetokun
Egbetokun who was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on June 19, 2023, resigned from the office on Tuesday
Disu, whose appointment was immediately announced by the Presidency on Tuesday, 24th February 2026*, holds a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in English Education, as well as Master’s degrees in Public Administration and in Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University.
The university in a statement described the appointment, as a well deserved and meritorious, saying it is a powerful testament to Disu’s integrity, professional competence, and decades of disciplined and patriotic service to the nation.
The Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor affirmed that Disu represents the very best of LASU – resilient, intellectually grounded, and committed to transformational leadership.

They expressed confidence that the Acting Inspector General would deploy his intellectual depth, vast operational experience, and strategic insight to strengthen reforms, deepen public trust, and enhance service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.
"As he assumes leadership at a pivotal moment for national security, the University community celebrates this milestone achievement and wishes him great wisdom, courage, and success in office", the statement concluded
