Host, Nigeria maintained its dominance in the female 100 meters sprint event as the duo of Chioma Cynthia Nweke and Miracle Ezechukwu clinched gold in their respective under-18 and under-20 categories at the ongoing 3rd CAA African Junior Championship in Abeokuta, Ogun State, South West
In the under-18, female 100 meters final, Miracle Ezechukwu finished in 11:88, ahead of fellow compatriots Chigogozie Rosemary Nwankwo and Mariam Jegede who won as silver and bronze respectively to make a clean sweep on the podium finish for the host nation
For the 100metres female under-20 final decided on Thursday, Day-two of the competition, Chioma Cynthia Nweke finished the race in 11:65 ahead of fellow Nigerian , Success Oyibu and Lou Yonan of Ivory Cost in second and third respectively
Nigeria's mixed relay team also clinched gold in 4x 400 metres as the competition enters Day-Three on Friday on the track of the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Kuto area of the city
The story was however different in the male under- 18 and under-20 events as Nigeria struggled to make podium finish, winning bronze respectively in the two categories
