Ogun Govt Moves To Boast Adire Production, Begins Vocational Training At Asero


Ogun State Government is set to equip its  Hall built at the Asero International Market, towards commencement of vocational skill acquisition programme, as part of efforts to revitalise, promote and sustain the local ‘Adire’ fabric and boost the  tourism sector 

The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, made this known during a meeting with the  Executives of the Asero Adire International Market, Abeokuta at his office in Oke-Mosan

He explained that the Hall would be a vocational skill acquisition centre for people to train and learn the process of making the local fabric, thereby help to tackle unemployment and enhance production of ‘Adire’ in the state.

Hon. Fagbayi said the facility would be equipped with chairs, tables and fans, to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere for the training.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Oluwatosin Oloko, stated that the meeting was an eye-opener, towards recognising the yearning of the traders in the market, assuring that the Ministry would continue to support and ensure the sustainability of the ‘Adire’ industry.

She hinted that the Ministry would begin regular vocational training for willing youths and women in the state, as soon as the equipment were ready.

Responding, the Iyaloja of Asero Adire International Market, Mrs, Oluwakemi Oloyede, appreciated the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration for its continued support towards the revitalisation of the fabric, promising to maintain the facility.
