Nigeria's Super Falcons Beat Cape Verde 7-1 Aggregate..Secure Ticket To WAFCON

Nigeria's Super Falcons have booked their qualification ticket for  next year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after  a 2-1 win against host, Cape Verde at the Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde in Praia on Tuesday, completing the two legged qualifier on 7-1 aggregate scores

The Nigerian senior female side had been ruthless in their reverse encounter at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja last Thursday. with an emphatic 5-0 victory courtesy of a brace from Uchenna Kanu, Esther Okoronkwo, and Gift Monday rounding things up.

Top Striker Asisat Oshoala and defender
Ashleigh Plumptre were  again missing in the Justin Madugu tutored side in the return leg who were hoping for a repeat of the first leg massacre against their opponents who put up a strong resistance

The took the lead in 8th minute with goal from Racing Power striker, Ivania Moreira but the visiting  Super Falcons pressed for an equalizer, but the Cape Verde side remained resolute taking their lone goal advantage into halftime.

Substitute Okoronkwo, a UD Tenerife forward finally restored Falcons' five goals lead with an  equalizer after her earlier goal in the 55minutes was disallowed for offside positioning

Okoronkwo was making herself a nuisance of the Cape Verde defence and almost got an assist after she set up Toni Payne but the latter couldn’t beat the opposition goalkeeper Jacinta Rodrigues.

Acting captain Rasheedat Ajibade after missing a close range opportunity, finally broke the deadlock three minutes into stuppage time to extend the lead in both legs and make it a comprehensive result in the final qualifier

The Cape Verdians must thank the goal keeper ,Rodrigues for keeping the score line low against  the likes of Payne and Okoronkwo who kept on mounting pressure on the homeside
