Ogun HoS To Auditors -Imbibe Training For Effectiveness

 


Auditors in the Ogun State Civil Service have been charged to imbibe the principles of training, so as to  reposition the Civil Service for 
efficient and effective service delivery to the people

The Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, gave the charge at the Staff Development Centre, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, while declaring open a 2-day capacity building training for Auditors in the Civil Service, organised by the Bureau of Establishment and Training, Office of the Head of Service.

Aigoro who said the training was meant to improve the quality and effectiveness of the State's public finance managers and appreciated  Governor Dapo Abiodun, for his unrelenting commitment to training and retraining the workforce.

 "Auditing is a critical function that ensures effective and efficient use of public resources. As Auditors, you play a vital role in ensuring that the government's financial statements are accurate and reliable. Your work is essential in safeguarding public assets for their intended purposes. It is the cornerstone of ensuring that public resources are used effectively, efficiently and transparently. Therefore, the work you do as auditors is critical to the success of our dear State and its citizens", he stated

"As Auditors, you are expected to maintain high standards of integrity, professionalism and independence. You are also expected to communicate your findings and recommendations to the appropriate authorities and stakeholders in a timely manner. Failure to perform these roles has consequences that are too weighty to be imagined', the HoS advised.

In his opening remark, the State Auditor-General, Mr. Akorede Balogun, appreciated Governor Abiodun and the organisers of the training for their relentless efforts at making it a reality, as the training was important for memory rejuvenation, to achieve excellent performance on the job.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Adedayo Somoye admonished the participants to make good use of the training by converting the knowledge gained for the benefit of the State and their personal lives.

Earlier in her address, the  Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishment and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, who revealed that the training was carried out based on observed gaps, charged the auditors to reciprocate government's huge investment in capacity building, by taking advantage of the training and the experience of the carefully selected resource persons to keep improving themselves at their duty posts.
