Regulatory Agencies Charge Cooking Gas Outlets Owners On Safety




The Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and that of Nigerian Mainstream Department Of Petroleum  Resources Agency (NMDPRA) have charged operators of cooking gas outlets to always abide by the rules and regulations guiding their business in the state for safety reasons.

The Director Urban Planning in the  State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Town Planner  Rufus Talabi, gave the charge at the Interactive Sessions/Work organize by cooking Gas  Proprietors Association of Nigeria Ogun state chapter in Abeokuta.

Talabi advised the organizers to ensure they have access to the Ogun state physical Planning law which contained six basic Regulations guiding the conduct of cooking gas operators in the state for safety measure.

Similarly, the representative of Nigerian Mainstream Department Of Petroleum  Resources Agency (NMDPRA), Mr Oluwafemi Adebowale in his presentation, maintained that it was the joy of the agency to see  cooking gas business growing in the state and to ensure that the business is being done In a conducive environment.




He further enjoined the operators to going into partnership with some filling stations in the state so as to have their facilities within the filling stations to ensure a safe business environment.

He also noted that government would not permit a gas business facility that was not fenced saying it was necessary for them to go into negotiation with the filling stations for safety reasons.

Also speaking, a Deputy Director in the Ogun State Fire Service, Engineer  Adebambo, advised the gas business operators to always ensure they have fire extinguishers around them and in a case of fire incident which was out of their control, they should contact the fire service station immediately for safety of life and properties.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman of Cooking Gas Skid Proprietors Association Of Nigeria (COGASPAN) in the state, Alhaji AbdRauf Adekunle, maintained that the association had in no small measure contributed positively to the life of the people in the state particularly in the area of economic growth, job opportunities, safety measures and high class operation.
