Governor Dapo Abiodun has attributed the recent major seizure of N83.4million worth of Cannabis Sativa recorded by the operatives of the Ogun State Command of Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to the collaborative efforts of his administration with the agency in the state
The governor who was speaking at the NDLEA Ogun Command in Abeokuta, during an official inspection of a landmark seizure of 278 jumbo bags of Cannabis Sativa weighing 3,533 kilograms and valued at N83.4m, says the joint effort had
resulted in a drastic reduction in crime rate and abuse of drugs in the State.
Abiodun represented by his Special Adviser on Security, AIG Olusola Subair (rtd),said his government was poised at ridding the State of illicit drugs.
He assured officers and men of NDLEA of the government's continued logistic support in the areas of intelligence gathering, to explore various ways within the ambit of the law, to address the challenges of drug abuse in the State.
Speaking in an interview, the State Commandant of NDLEA, Ogun Command, Mrs. Archie-Abia Ibinabo, revealed that the consistent support of the State government had resulted in various achievements of the Command, such as the seizure of 176kgs of Cannabis Sativa at Ogere trailer park on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 and destruction of 15 hectares of cannabis plantation in Gbamgbam, Ijebu North East Area of the State.
She appreciated the State Government for providing effective direction and pleaded for logistic support, charging all security agents and citizens to join hands in fighting the drug war.
