Ogun Education Commissioner To School Principals - Be A Solution Provider To Challenges In Secondary School Education

Principals across Southwest States in Nigeria have been admonished to be solution providers to several challenges facing secondary school education in the country   

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave the charge during a courtesy visit of the Southwest States executives of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS).

He encouraged  them to continue to embrace relevant training that would l ensure better performance and effective administration as school managers.

Arigbabu enjoined them to continue to portray themselves in a manner acceptable of leaders and school administrators.

“What you are doing at ANCOPSS is part of the solution facing the country, you cannot but train the Principals, so that you will be able to hand over the baton when you are leaving to people that are worthy of it”.

The Commissioner stated that the workshop holding in the state, tagged: “2022 Mandatory Continuing Professional Training” would in no small measure help the school managers on the best and effective ways of handling the affairs of their schools and to tackle challenges as 21st century leaders and teachers.

In her submission, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo described ANCOPSS as builders of leaders, urging the members to continue to develop initiatives that would make them exemplary administrators in their respective schools.

In his remark, the President, Ondo State ANCOPSS, Mr. Johnbull Mebawondu applauded the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for the support given to Principals in the State and his giant strides in the education sector, which had been a point of reference for other States.

In her welcome address, the President, Ogun State ANCOPSS, Mrs. Olubunmi Womiloju highlighted some of the themes of discussion at the workshop to include, Emerging Administrative and Management Innovations and Techniques for Handling Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Secondary Education, Upsurge in Attacks on Secondary Schools in Nigeria: Causes and Effects, as well as Digital Upscaling of School Administrators: An Investment in Digitalised Education, among others.
