MAPOLY Rates Self With Over 100 Ph.D Holders, Warns Fresh Students Against Indescent Dressing, Cultism, Other Vices



Moshood Abiola Polytechnic MAPOLY Abeokuta has rated itself as one of the few polytechnics in Nigeria with over 100 Ph.D holders, asking fresh students admitted into the Institution to take advantage of rare opportunity to tap from rich knowledge of the academic staff, so as to actualize their lifetime educational dreams

Acting Rector of the Institution, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji who gave advice on Thursday during the 2021/2022 Matriculation and Oath-taking ceremony for the new students held inside the OGD main auditorium of the polytechnic on its Ojere- Abeokuta campus, also warned them against examination malpractices , indescent dressing, cultism and other anti-social activities


"Apart from the skill acquisition, you will also have advantages to excel and succeed professionally in your chosen careers, as you will draw from the fountain of qualified lecturers in the Polytechnic.I am bold to inform you that Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, have over one hundred Ph.D holders, which is rare to find in many Polytechnics in Nigeria", he enjoined the students

"Your primary aim on this campus is to obtain certificate which will help you achieve in life, be informed that management frawn at some anti-social behaviors examination misconduct, indecent dressing, secret associations which you have sworn against today. The Polytechnic recently expelled 30 students and suspended another 60 students for examination misconducts", Odedeji warned


The acting Rector who was full of praises for Governor Dapo Abiodun for his timely intervention that prevented the 43 year-old Ogun State owned institution from going enstinction, assured the new students of the unique opportunity of having access to the newly constructed skills acquisition centre


"Let me congratulate you as you become one of the set of students that will benefit from the newly constructed skill acquisition center and thereby becoming a dual certificate graduate on completion of your programme", he added

Odedeji said that the students of the Institution would have the dual certificate in skill acquisition and academic, urging them to be focused and disciplined to succeed in the Institution

On security measures put in place by the management of the Institution, he explained that motorcycles are usually registered before being allowed into the campus while cars with tinted glass are  prevented from coming into the school

"Some people have penchant for tinted vehicles, but for security of our Staff and Students, they are not allowed to gain access into our campus" 




'We have also made efforts to register the motorcycle operations at the gate to ensure those that carry our students are known to us. I will only advice you not to take motorcycles on a long distance if you must take it at all"

 "As fresh students, know those who you associate with, refuse any unsolicited assistance from any quarter, run away from anything that is capable of dragging the name of the Institution and your families to the mud. "

He assured the fresh students of the commitment of MAPOLY to always sunstain its tradition of academic excellence, high moral values and training of highly skilled graduates that fit into the needs of industrial sector and  can compete globally with their peers in various careers, particularly in the media, engineering,  accountancy among others

"We at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta also look forward to the development of your character trait, skills and competence which will distinguish you among your pears and make us proud as your mentors and parents."

Odedeji also recalled the recent ranking of the Institution by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB among top 10 polytechnics and monothechnics for ensuring compliance to the new admission guidelines for students

Recently, our great Institution was ranked by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) among top ten Polytechnics and Monotechnics for full compliance with its Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) for the 2021 Admission exercise."
