It was a success story all the way in the past 25years for one of the Nigeria's famous school's, Brightway International School located at popular Lafenwa in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State
Proprietor of the school, Hon.Yomi Whyte was full of praises to God, management, teachers and host community while speaking during the colourful silver jubilee celebration of the primary section and sixth valedictory service held on Tuesday, 2nd of August, 2022 for Graduating Students of Brightway College
"We have testimonies all over the world.We have our students in different countries worldwide. That is our joy, fulfillment and attestation"
"We are using this medium to appreciate all parents, well-wishers, philanthropists that supported us to this level. We cannot leave out the Government that has given us the opportunity to excel through monitoring, evaluation and supervision by all agencies most especially our supervising Ministry of Education, Science and Technology", the highly elated proprietor stated
Academic Co-ordinator of Brightway College, Mrs. A.A Soyinka speaking in the same vein, said that students presented by the school recorded impressive academic performances in the 2021 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examinations WASSCE and Senior School Certificate Examinations SSCE conducted by the West Africa Examination Council WAEC and National Examination Council NECO respectively as well as Basic Education Certificate Examinations BECE conducted by the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for the Junior Secondary Class 3 students
"The last WAEC and NECO results, were fantastic. All the students that sat for WAEC examination and NECO had distinctions (A's ) in Mathematics and English Language credit all through. The school recorded 100% performance for the higher education potentials as requested by the state ministry of education", she revealed
Soyinka said that the school distinguished itself in the quiz and debate contest, particularly in quiz competition organized by the Mathematics Association of Nigeria, during which three students from the school qualified for final stage of the competition
She added that Brightway College finished in third position among the 23 schools that participated in the project exhibition organized by the Ogun State Government under the theme "The Effect of Science and Technology In Curbing Food Scarcity and Insecurity Admidst Covid-19 Pandemic In Nigeria"
"Ministry of education officials, examination bodies both WAEC and NECO, worthy supervisors who came for invigilation were stunned with the qualities of our facilities, well equipped laboratories, library, computer lab, Home-Economics lab, basic technology, workshop and Art Studio. As well as qualified and certified teachers to make all these worthwhile and effective for teaching and learning to take place", Soyinka stated
Also speaking, the Head Teacher of the primary school section, Mrs F. Adjara rolled out the success story of the school in the Olympiad Competition as well as its commitment to re-training of teaching and administrators
Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association PTA, Pastor David Obaseun was full of praises for the proprietor for sustaining the culture of academic excellence and moral standard among other schools in the state
Speaking on the theme "Effect of Separation and Parenting Style on the Academic Performance of Children", guest speaker, General Manager of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation,Toyin Sogbesan represented by the station's Assistant General Manager, Femi Adeyanju identified the different types of parenting and the need for parents to always tolerate each other in the interest of moral upbringing of their children
Also speaking on the theme, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Abeokuta Metro Area Command, Haruna Adamu cautioned parents against any act capable of separating them
He urged them to always learn how to accommodate each other differences, in order to lay down strong foundation for moral upbringing of their children, so as to make the task of training such pupils by teachers in school seamless
The Area Commander blamed over 70 percent of cases in cultism, armed robbery and other crimes on children from broken homes
The event included presentation of certificates and prizes to pupils in the nursery and primary sections as well as Graduating Students in the Junior Secondary Class 3 and Senior School Class 3
Former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Suraj Adekunbi during presentation of certificates to Graduating Students in the Senior School, urged them to justify the huge expenses of their parents on them by doing well in their academic pursuits
He commended the management of the school for sustaining culture of academic excellence and moral standard
In her farewell speech, the outgoing Senior Prefect, Raodah Adeniran assured parents and management of the school of good performance in their 2022 West Africa Senior School Certificate and Senior School Certificate Examinations by conducted by both WAEC and NECO respectively
"I wish to assure the management of this school that we shall continue to remain as good boys and girls and good ambassadors of the school anywhere we find ourselves", he assured
There were also different displayed of cultural dances in Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa by students as well as sax performance by an old student and miming by students
