The management of Aminat International College Abeokuta, a leading secondary school in Ogun State, South West Nigeria has expressed satisfaction with performances of its students in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB )
Principal of the school, Alhaji Mikail Anifowose expressed the satisfaction with the results recorded by the outgoing students of the college during 2022 Valedictory Service organized on Sunday at its premises located at Osara Road,Gbonagun, Obantoko, in Odeda Local Government Area for both Senior School Class 3 and Junior Secondary Class 3 students
"It is satisfying to note that all students who took the just concluded 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination had impressive scores ", he stated
The principal expressed confidence that the graduating students of the 2022 class would record better performance than the previous outings in both examinations conducted by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC)and National Examination Council (NECO)
"Though, the results of 2022 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examinations WASSCE and Senior School Certificate Examinations SSCE by NECO are yet to be released. It is our believe and prayers that the results would be better than previous years (Insha Allah)", he expressed with confident
"The College has produced students in Arts, Commercial and Science Studies who have graduated in various disciplines from Nigerian and Overseas Universities with distinctions. By all standard, AICA has made a remarkable contribution to the development of secondary education in the country", the principal added with pride
Anifowose recalled the school's notable performances in various competitions at the local, state and national levels including Splash FM Quiz Competition, Crescent University Physics Week, State Science Competition, Mathematics Association of Nigeria Competition
He enjoined the outgoing students to always conduct themselves very well and be diligent , if they must succeed in their future academic pursuit
Also speaking on the theme of the valedictory service "Changing the Narratives of the Nigerian Society: The Essence of Qualitative Education", Professor Taofik Shittu stressed the need for government, parents and teachers to play their respective roles effectively in child's educational development
The Professor of Food Science and Technology at the Federal University of Agriculture identified good governance as only solution to overcome the problem of resources allocation and management as well as mitigating environmental challenges affecting the development of education in the country
The college's overall best Graduating Student, Islamiyyat Bamidele Akintola in her valedictory service speech at the event, described the final day in the school as "not an end but a means to giant strides"
"We have prepared to move on and take on whatever challenges comes next in our lives.Now, it is time for our worth to be tested", she charged her fellow graduands
For students coming behind them, she urged them to be determined to succeed in their academic pursuit
"Determination is the key to success, when things go wrong, don't quit, when you want to smile but you just sigh, don't quit because quitters don't win. To be realistic, submissive and optimistic and don't let failure be the obstruction to your success", she advised
Islamiyyat who was full of praises for the proprietor, Late Alhaji (Chief) S.A Yusuff (Moore),the management and teachers for qualitative education, urged the students to learn from the experiences of members of her set by doing better than those perfect in the past
Earlier Alhaji (Chief) Kazeem Afolabi,the Onipetu of Gbongan Land who was Father of the Day at the event announced a scholarship for the overall best Graduating Student at the Junior Secondary Class and donated N100,000, promising to do more for the growth of the school
Co-Proprietor of the school, Alhaji Sherif Yusuff represented by Mutiu Yusuff, appreciated parents for their confidence in the college while urging the outgoing students to always be good Ambassador of Aminat International College Abeokuta
There were presentation of plagues to the outgoing students as well as prizes to outstanding students for their academic brilliance and demonstration of cultural dance
Some of the exceptional students include Islamiyyat Akintola , the overall best Graduating Student who beat Aminat Ghazali to second placed and Roqeebat Adeyemi who won scholarship as the most outstanding Graduating Student in the Junior Secondary Class displacing Banmeke Mushsin and Lawal Sofiat
Others are Banmeke Aishat who emerged as overall best in the Junior Secondary Class 1 ahead of Aminu Adam and Lawal Saheed in 2nd and 3rd positions, Adebowale Abdul-Raheem in JSS2, finished ahead his twin brother Adebowale Abdul-Rahmon and Balogun Abdulfatai in the second and third positions while Abdul Faheemah and. Ajadi Bazeet emerged the overall best in the Senior School Class 1 and 2 respectively
