A leading property firm,Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited has expressed readiness to partner Ogun State Government on its proposed Smart Cities Project.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the real estate firm, Dr.Babatunde Adeyemo indicated the interest in the project during a courtesy visit on the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Waheed Odusile at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta
Adeyemo who appreciated the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government for its giant strides in the State, reveals that his company is ready to partner with the government to ignite the Gateway Smart Cities as the work of urbanisation lies not only in the hands of government but with the collective efforts of the private investors and stakeholders in the real estate.
The CEO of the first and only estate to have received full government approval in the State, noted that an estimated N30b in direct and indirect taxes would be accruable into the government's coffers within the next three years, calling on the government to help fix the 3km single lane road that leads to the estate which according to him would also serve as a veritable means to decongest the Kobape/Abeokuta expressway and aid urban-rural migration.
"To us, this is just a starting point as we are set to ignite some projects within the Kobape region that will help, sustain and generate more revenue to the coffers of the State government and also aid controlled development, proper planning, and urbanisation, and most importantly boost the agricultural production base of the State in no small measures", Adeyemo said.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy assured investors in the State of the government's commitment to always encourage Public-Private Partnership to bring the needed development to the State.
Odusile who gave the assurance during the courtesy visit of the management of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited says,"it gladdens the heart of government when private investors come in to support its ongoing developmental strides", adding that government alone cannot do it all.
The Commissioner insists that the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun is not paying lip service to the housing sector, revealing that in less than three years, it has built and allocated over a thousand affordable housing units to the people
The allocation of the housing units according to him, is more than all the housing units provided by all the previous administrations put together since the creation of the State in 1976 until May 29, 2019, when it assumed office.
"We would not stop, we would continue to vigorously pursue our housing plans until every indigene in the State who needs a roof over his head is catered for", Odusile said.
He assured that before the end of Governor Abiodun's first term in office, the administration would have delivered 2500 housing units to the people of the State.
