Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has ordered Vice Principals in public secondary schools and Assistant Head Teachers in primary schools across the state to return to classrooms, as part of measures to address the problem of shortage of teachers in the state
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Lola Amuda revealed the governor’s directive during a meeting with some school Principals in Akure.
She quoted the governor as saying, pending the time when the state would address the shortage of teachers in public schools, all vice principals must return to the classroom.
The Permanent Secretary who commended those who had already taken up the challenge of returning to classrooms, urged others to comply with the directive with immediate effect.
Some of the principals while reacting to the directive , urged the ministry to translate the governor’s directive to a circular in order to avoid unnecessary confusion
