Ogun Govt Screens Over 20,000 Candidates For Flagship Secondary Schools

No fewer than 20,000 applicants have been screened by the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology

into its 44 Flagship Secondary Schools across the three Senatorial Districts of the State

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, while monitoring the screening examination exercises in Egba, Remo and Ijebu divisions of the State, said learners' massive turnout was impressive, noting that it was as a result of the measures and developmental initiatives put in place by the Dapo Abiodun-led administration.

Appreciating the Governor for prioritising provision of qualitative and accessible education to the people, Prof. Arigbabu, hinted that the government had concluded a plan for more developmental intervention in all schools to further improve the learning process across the State.

The Commissioner revealed further that government had equipped all its 44 Flagship Secondary Schools and the 8 Technical colleges across the State as well as made their environment very conducive for a better academic session.

"Generally, I will say I'm very satisfied with what I have seen so far. The conduct of the exercise was smooth and impressive. Principals and teachers were fully on ground, learners well arranged on time, in all, I wish the candidates good luck," he said.

On their part, Principals from Ijebu-ode Grammar School, Ijebu-ode and Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, Mr. Adewale Adekogbe and Mr. Samuel Soneye, respectively commended the present administration for putting necessary mechanism in place which aided seamless conduct of the exercise, saying student arrived early and were well comported.

Applauding the Ministry on behalf of parents for the improved educational systems, Mr. Julius Okorie stated, ‘I brought my grandson all the way from Owerri to participate in this exercise because of the desired standard that the present government has given education in the State’.

School visited were Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi-aba, Abeokuta, Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, Ijebu-ode Grammar School, Ijebu-ode, Muslim Girls High School, Ijebu-ode, Government Science and Technical College, Ijebu-ode.
