The 2026 Ogun State Medical Mission, championed by the First Lady's Ajose Foundation, has continued its grassroots outreach as it reaches out to the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Sagamu, to distribute school bags and reusable menstrual hygiene kits to over 50 students.
The outreach, a staple of the annual week-long medical mission that also provided free surgical interventions for various ailments, featured an intensive coaching session aimed at bolstering the students’ self-esteem, career aspirations and understanding of menstrual health.
Speaking during the visit, the First Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, noted that the initiative reflected the vision of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whose Renewed Hope Initiative had prioritised the holistic empowerment of young women nationwide.
"We are providing these school bags and sanitary supplies today to let you know that your education, your health and your dignity are non-negotiable priorities and we are building an environment where you can thrive, protected and empowered,’’ she said.
In her remarks, Team Lead of the Medical Mission and Founder of KCare Beyond Borders Inc., Dr. Bimpe Adenusi, lauded the First Lady’s intervention, noting that the project would be impossible without her sustained support.
She therefore urged the students to remain focused in their academics and strive to become future leaders who would contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth.
The event featured an interactive session where students engaged the medical experts on topics ranging from hormonal changes and intellectual development to best practices in personal hygiene.
Responding on behalf of the student body, Miss Adebimpe Adefala, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and the medical team, while pledging that the students would serve as ambassadors for menstrual health and hygiene within their communities.
