President-General of Ogun State Muslim Council and Olowu of Owu-Kingdom Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola has charged Muslims, particularly religious leaders to renew their commitment to the propagation of Islamic ideals of fairness and justice in the society
Oba Matemilola gave the charge on Tuesday while hosting leaders of the Muslim apex body in the state during a Special Ramadan Iftar and Prayer at his Oke Ago-Owu Palace in Abeokuta, the State capital
The highly elated monarch pledged his readiness to serve wholeheartedly by making himself available at every activity of the council, irrespective of location in place, recalling his experiences with visit to places in both Ijebu and Yewa axis of the State to promote Islam
He equally called on leaders of OMC at every level to double their commitment to sustenance of Islamic ideals in their respective communities
Earlier the Vice-President Generals of the council, Prof. Oduye, (Remo Zone), Otunba Abdulfatai Arowolo (Ijebu Zone) and Alhaji Alli Ajibode (Yewa Zone) and former Commissioner, Dr.Dele Ogunsiji in their separate remarks, appreciated the leadership style of Olowu for his commitment to the council and growth of Islam in the state
They described Oba Matemilola as a worthy successor to the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona , expressing confidence in the leadership of Oba Matemilola to take OMC to the next level
Also the Mufti of the State Muslim Council, Mikhail Sile Rufai admonished Muslims to always strive for sustenance of good deeds till death, for them to be rewarded eternal life in hereafter in paradise as promised by Almighty Allah
The cleric prayed Allah to guide Olowu on the right path and give him the needed strength and long life to continue to provide the right leadership for the State Muslim Council
High point of the event was presentation of customized calendar to Oba Matemilola by the Ijebu Zone of OMC
The State Muslim Council's Secretary General, Asiwaju Kamal'deen Akintunde Esq, Zonal Chairmen led by Egba Zone's Chairman, Alhaji (Chief) Abdul-Hakeem Tunji Kalejaiye, Chairmen of local governments of OMC , women leaders amongst other dignatries attended the event
