The Federal Government has approved N4bn each for Federal University of Technology in Akure, Federal University of Technology, Owerri and ten other similar universities across the country to upgrade their engineering and technology faculties.
Other institutions to benefit under the first phase of the intervention fund include Federal University of Technology, Minna, Federal University of Technology, Babura, Federal University of Technology, Ikot-Abasi; and the Nigerian Army University, Biu across each of the geopolitical zones
An additional N20bn has already been acaptured in the 2026 TETFund guidelines for similar upgrades in more institutions, in another phase.
The Minister of Education, Dr.Tunji Alausa, disclosed this in Abuja on Monday during the inauguration of the Ministerial Monitoring, Evaluation and Implementation Committee for the TETFund Special High-Impact Intervention Project.
The initiative, implemented through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, targets the rehabilitation of engineering and technology faculties in federal universities as well as selected conventional and state universities nationwide.
Each is to receive N4bn for the rehabilitation of workshops, construction of new facilities and procurement of modern equipment.
