The Zakat and Sadaqah Foundation, Ogun State Chapter, has paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Waali of The Muslim Congress (TMC), Ogun State, Dr. Folarin Jamiu, pledging strategic partnership to strengthen welfare initiatives, zakat mobilization, and Muslim unity across the state.
The visit marked the Foundation’s first official engagement with the new Waali since his emergence as leader of the organization in Ogun State.
The delegation was led by the State Coordinator of the Foundation, Rahman Kewulere, alongside members of its leadership and other officials.
Speaking during the visit, Kewulere congratulated Dr. Folarin on what he described as a well-deserved appointment, noting that his emergence reflected the confidence and trust the Muslim community reposed in his leadership capacity.
He described leadership in Islam as an amānah, or sacred trust, which demands wisdom, justice, humility, patience, and sincerity.
“Your emergence as Waali is not only a recognition of your personal integrity, scholarship, and unwavering commitment to the cause of Islam, but also a testament to the hope the Muslim Ummah has placed in your leadership,” he said.
Kewulere expressed confidence that the new Waali would discharge his responsibilities with fear of Allah and commitment to service.
The Foundation also commended Dr. Folarin’s recently published reflection titled “My (Un)Prepared Blueprint: Reflections on the Dream and Reality of The Muslim Congress, Ogun State Chapter,” in which he outlined a five-point agenda focusing on: Spiritual development, Membership growth, Welfare and economic empowerment, Education and capacity building, and Special projects, collaboration, and unity
According to the Foundation, the blueprint aligns strongly with its core mandate of promoting social justice, poverty alleviation, and sustainable community development through zakat and sadaqah.
“As a foundation committed to social justice and community development, we strongly identify with this vision, particularly in strengthening Muslim unity, enhancing welfare initiatives, and deepening our collective responsibility to humanity,” Kewulere stated.
He added that the Foundation was ready to collaborate with TMC to expand welfare interventions and improve social impact across Muslim communities in the state.
The Foundation also sought the Waali’s support in encouraging consistent zakat mobilization among members of TMC to enhance economic empowerment and social support systems.
In his response, Dr. Folarin expressed gratitude to the Foundation for the visit, describing it as highly motivating and reassuring.
He noted that the visit demonstrated the presence of committed individuals and organizations working for the advancement of Islam and humanity.
“It is a great privilege to receive the officials of the Zakat and Sadaqah Foundation. I am particularly glad that your organisation is the first to pay me a courtesy visit after my emergence as Waali,” he said.
He added that the Foundation’s commitment to social justice and welfare resonates strongly with the vision of his administration.
