Ogun Govt Invests In Capacity Building Of School Administrators, Teachers To Boost Secondary Education

Ogun State Government has trained school administrators and teachers to further boost academic standard in the secondary education sector.

The training is part of continuous efforts of the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration commitment to achieve all round education excellence

Governor Dapo Abiodun, while speaking at the official opening of a 2- Day workshop organized by the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) for Principals, Vice Principals and Teachers of Public Secondary Schools, held at the Cinema Hall of the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, said education remains the most enduring investment any 

government could make. 

Governor Abiodun, who was represented by the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, stated that

competent leadership and inspired teachers are needed for meaningful transformation to occur in the education sector. 

'' Our Principals and Vice Principals constitute the administrative engine of 

our schools, while teachers shape intellect, character, and civic consciousness. When sound leadership aligns with effective classroom delivery, excellence becomes inevitable'', he expanciated 

On his part, Chairman of TESCOM, Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu said global best practice s must be entrenched in school administrators and teaching activities. 

Apostle Sanyaolu affirmed that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration ISEYA mantra has made education to be a central pillar of sustainable development in the State, noting that the workshop is not a rehetorics but a practical and measurable priority. 

He said the theme of the workshop, '' One Vision, One Team: Driving Excellence Through Unified Leadership and Management'', is strategic and TESCOM deliberate strides to align leadership, strengthen, management capacity, and improve measurable performance indicators across the public secondary schools. 

According to him, '' this gathering is a therfore a call to synergy and commitments, a call to professionalism, renewed commitment''.

In his address, the Commissioner iii in TESCOM, who doubles as the Chairman of the Training Commitee, Hon. Olanrewaju Majekodunmi said the theme of the worshop was chosen to strengthen unity among school leaders as the foundation for sustainable educational progress.

In his goodwill message, the State Commissioner For Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu stated that it is imperative to keep key stakeholders in the education sector on track through training and retraining, adequate welfare and well-being, urging the participants to avail themselves of the  opportunity of the workshop at improving their service delivery at places of work 

Earlier in his address, the Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Mr. Akintomiwa Osibodu said the workshop has been carefully designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and modern strategies in collaborative leadership, effective school administrators, public service ethics and integration of Information and Communication Technology, as well as artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.

In his remarks, the President, All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Alaba Olùgbéwesa, appreciated the State government through TESCOM for the workshop, imploring the participants and other members of the association to join hands with the State education team for continued improvement in the education sector.

Responding on behalf of other participants at the workshop, the Principal, Ilewo Community High School, in Abeokuta North Local Government, Mrs. Abimbola Koya and the Vice Principal, Orílẹ̀ Imo High School, in Obafemi Owode Local Government, Mr. Sunday Babatunde said the workshop is essential for their career development and efficient service delivery.
