The Iperu Akesan Development Association (IDA) has officially inaugurated the Ojude Oba Iperu Planning Committee , marking the commencement of preparations for one of the town’s most cherished annual cultural celebrations.
Ojude Oba Iperu is a prominent socio-cultural event in Iperu-Remo, traditionally held on the third day of the Ileya (Eid-el-Kabir) festival.
The annual celebration serves as a unifying platform for sons and daughters of Iperu-Remo at home and in the diaspora,paying homeage to the royalty, showcasing the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and communal pride of the people of Iperu-Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State
The inauguration ceremony held on Sunday at the association's Secretariat in Iperu-Remo, was led by its President , Alhaji Taiwo Oyebanjo, popularly known as Avalon, who formally constituted the committee and announced Alhaji Taofeek Odubitan, popularly known as D' bay as Chairman of the 2026/2027 Ojude Oba Planning Committee along with other committee members.
In his address, the IDA President emphasized the importance of teamwork, unity, and inclusiveness in delivering a successful event.
Alhaji Oyebanjo charged the newly inaugurated committee members to work closely with all relevant stakeholders across the community, including traditional institutions, social groups, corporate partners, and other interest groups, to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and impactful celebration that reflects the true spirit of Iperu.
He also used the opportunity to appreciate the immediate past 2025 Ojude Oba Committee, ably led by Alhaji Denny Ibrahim Oladipupo, for organizing a well-coordinated and highly successful 2025 edition of the festival. He commended their dedication, commitment, and exemplary service to the community.
In an acceptance remarks, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Alhaji Taofeek Odubitan D' bay, expressed profound gratitude to the Association for entrusting him and other members of the committee with the responsibility of leading the 2026/2027 committee.
Alhaji Odubitan in a statement by the Planning Committee's Public Relations Officer I, Comrade Azeez Akinbowale,
described the appointment as a privilege and a call to serve, assuring the leadership and the entire Iperu community that the committee would work tirelessly to deliver one of the best Ojude Oba celebrations ever witnessed in Iperu.
