Former Governor of Ogun State, Sen.Ibikunle Amosun has joined the growing list of dignitaries commiserating with the family of late Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde, a Director of Programme at the Ogun State Television (OGTV), describing his death as not only a great loss to the Akintunde Family but the entire media industry in the country
The prominent broadcast journalist who died on Wednesday on February 11, 2026 at the age of 57 after a protracted illness, was later buried according to Islamic rites on Thursday, February 12 in Abeokuta, the State capital
Amosun in a condolence message to the family personally signed by him, expressed his deep sadness over the death, saying the deceased as a thoroughbred professional and a veteran sports broadcaster had an impactful career in the media world
Akintunde according to him, will be remembered for the indelible mark he left at OGTV and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN) where he served in leadership roles
"My thoughts and prayers are with you at the difficult moment. I urge you not to be devastated by his demise , but rather take solace in his impactful life and the achievements he recorded during his short but eventful lifetime"
"I pray that the Almighty Allah in his infinite mercy will grant him Al-jannah Firdaus and give you, your children and the entire family, the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss", he concluded the condolences
