Chrisland University in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital has matriculated 486 students including 411new intake for undergraduate programmes and 75 admitted into the Postgraduate School of the institution for the 2025/2026 academic session
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof.Oyedunni Arulogun welcoming the students during its 11th Matriculation ceremony held on Thursday, urged them to be disciplined, focused and committed to their academic pursuits on campus, cautioning them against all forms of deviant behaviours and other vices , saying the institution has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct, including Examination Malpractice, Drug Addiction , Cultism, unruly and violent behaviour
"We will not hesitate to sanction any misdemeanor. Engaging in any of these is the fastest way to be expelled from the university", she warned
The Vice-Chancellor however urged the students to take advantage of the communication channels being provided by Chrisland University to engage the management through the Student Affairs Office
Speaking on the theme of the 11th Matriculation "Create It. Own It. Change The World", she charged them to be agents of change in the society or avoid being changed by the society
"You can not change the world if the world changes you first. Hold your values. Guard your integrity. Let excellence be your habit, not ambition".
" At Chrisland University, we are committed to providing you with the best learning environment, equipped with world-class facilities, an outstanding faculty and a student-friendly atmosphere that fosters personal and professional growth. Our University is student-centered and a robust boot camp for nurturing the next Generation of informed leaders," she stated with pride
The Vice-Chancellor challenged the student to see the various problems confronting the world as opportunities to find lasting solutions and create value and be relevant in the society as agents of change
She maintained that they must be ready to own the society by working hard and being disciplined and creative to succeed in life
Prof.Arulogun who urged the matriculated students to work hard to actualize their academic dreams on campus, reminded them of their oath, saying it is a declaration of their readiness to join a community of scholars bound by standards, ethnics and shared purpose
"As Vice-Chancellor, I challenge you: Create boldly, Own responsibly, Change courageously.And when you return here for graduation, may you not only carry a degree may you carry impact", she tasked them
The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the visionary leadership of the university's Chancellor and Founder, High Chief Dr(Mrs) Winifred Awosika, Pro-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ayodeji Olukoju , the Managing Director of Chrisland Group of Schools, Mrs Ibironke Adeyemi as well as members of Board of Trustees and Governing Council of the institution
Similarly, the Director of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Nigeria Office , Dr. Oluwatobiloba Moody speaking as Guest Speaker on the Matriculation theme, charge the students to make impact by being innovative in what they do on campus
He urged them to identify problems and proffer lasting solutions through inventions or generation of ideas which will protected under Copyright law
The Intellectual Property Law Expert guided the matriculated students through how they can enjoy commercial benefits of their innovations under patent and trade mark, tasking them to create a niche as a brand with unique solutions
"You have the power to change the world. Changing the world start with you. Let the university feels your impact. Start from where you are now . You must speak the language of excellence in what you do. Excellence is a way of life", he challenged them
