LASU Renews Call Against Indecent Dressing, Says Students Wearing Crazy Jeans, Male Students Wearing Earrings Will Be Denied Access To University's Facilities

Top officials at the Lagos State University have been instructed not to allow students who dressed Indecently to campus, to have access to learning facilities including, Lecture halls, Examination venues, University library as well as Academic and administrative offices 

The categories of the affected students barred, include those male students wearing earrings and sagging, excessively baggy, 'yansh-level' or over-length trousers, as well as female students wearing transparent or see-through dresses; mini or skimpy skirts or dresses that reveal sensitive parts of the body

The move is part of measures being taken by the Security Committee of the university who has reiterated the institution' s stance on the *unacceptable trend of indecent dressing among students, vowing to enforce discipline and promote decency on campus

However, the committee in a statement clearly stated that while the University respects the personal freedom and acknowledges the maturity of students in their choice of attire, it must be emphasised that *indecent dressing remains unacceptable within the Lagos State University community

Furthermore, *lecturers and administrative staff have been directed to deny official engagement or academic participation to any student found in violation of the University’s dress code policy.*

Other Inappropriate modes of dressing that will attract sanctions include, but are not limited to:Wearing torn, tattered or dirty jeans, especially those with holes, or bearing obscene or offensive inscriptions

Those students wearing tight-fitting clothes that expose body contours and 

T-shirts or tops with obscene, suggestive or offensive messages or designs

Students wearing loose, folded, held, or pocketed ties; unbuttoned or improperly buttoned shirts; rolled sleeves and flying collars

Also to be denied access to the school facilities are students wearing face caps or full-face coverings within lecture or official areas as well as those who 

pierced body parts and display tattoos on their bodies 

Equally those female students who are fond of wearing nose rings, large or hanging earrings, and conspicuous necklaces and those using distractive footwear such as noisy high heels (e.g. stilettos) in the library or lecture halls, will be denied access to the key facilities on campus 

In addition to the measures stated above, the Committee also *calls on all staff members to support the enforcement efforts* of the University’s security personnel. *Staff are expected to discourage all forms of indecent dressing* and lead by example in upholding the institution’s values.
