The stakeholders including the Head of Reproductive Health unit of the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr. Temitope Oluwadare, Family Planning Co-ordinator, Mrs Bolanle Adelani, Focal- person/Logistics , Family Planning unit, Mr. Olawale Onipede and Chairperson of Family Health Initiative Ogun (FAHIO), Mrs Oluwakemi Balogun made the call in their separate presentations during a parley with the media in Abeokuta on Wednesday
The inadequate funding, according to them, has continued to limit the uptake of Family Planning services
"These challenges have contributed to a growing unmet needs among women of reproductive age and now require urgent action to prevent gaps in access to quality Family Planning services ", they decried
They pleaded for adequate budgetary allocation for Family Planning by the State Government, saying the current funding levels are insufficient to meet the increasing demand for*Family Planning* services across Primary Health Centres in the state
For them, an increase and dedicated funding for Family Planning, will ensure regular procurement of essential commodities and consumables required for safe and effective service delivery
"Without this , service continuity remains at risk", they said
The stakeholders emphasized the need for adequate and consistent provision for logistics, particularly for last-mile distribution
Strengthening logistics according to them, will help prevent frequent stock-outs and delays in the delivery of Family Planning commodities to the Primary Health Centres and other service delivery points
They equally advocated for regular capacity building for service providers on emerging Family Planning trends and technologies , saying this will ensure that clients receive accurate information, quality counseling and safe, client-centered services
