Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation has empowered another fresh 48 trainees with vocational skills to set up their small scale businesses and contribute to the growth of economy in Ogun State
The trainees on completion of the three-month skills acquisition programme under Capacity Building Training (CBT) initiative of the foundation held in Abeokuta were presented with certificates in "Paint production", *Adire and Campala making* , *Advanced soap and cosmetics making*,*Bag making and bead making*, *Catering and event decoration*, as well as *Cake and pastry baking* and *Organic Bio-digester System Installation*
According to the breakdown of the second edition of the training programme, 32 participants specialized in various vocational trades while 16 participants successfully acquired expertise in bio-digester system installation.
The Ogun State Coordinator of the Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, Alhaji Abdur Rahman Kewulere Anifowose revealed these on Sunday In Abeokuta, during the presentation of the graduands to the Executive Director of the foundation, Alhaji Sulaimon Olagunju , also said the pioneer 46 trainees produced in the 2024 maiden edition of the CBT programme who acquired vocational skills in paint production, soap making, catering, and bag making had started production , contributing to the economy through creation of more job opportunities as well as reduction in the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria and number of those seeking financial support
According to him four graduates were trained in Organic Bio-digester System Installation, and five others began solar panel installation training after the maiden edition of CBT initiative of the foundation
"This outcome is proof that empowerment through skills and knowledge is far more sustainable than empowerment through cash alone.The Second Edition (2025)
Building on the success of last year, the Ogun State Zone of the Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, in partnership with Princess Asanot Bello Consulting and Arkan Concepts embarked once again on this noble journey of empowerment", he stated
This year’s training program according to him began in May 2025, with an expanded curriculum, increased participation, and the continued generosity of our resource persons"
The State Co-ordinator then called on National Headquarters of the foundation to institutionalize the Capacity Building Training model across the 36 States and zones, considering the rising demand for empowerment support which he put at over 90% of zakat applications annually
"The most impactful way to serve our ummah is to equip them with skills that endure", he stated
"Furthermore, I propose that an Alumni Network of ZSF Graduates be established, to foster mentorship, business linkages, and cooperative growth among beneficiaries. This will ensure that the impact of our training is multiplied year after year", he suggested
He acknowledged the numerous contributions of the Executive Director, Alhaji Prince Sulaimon Olagunju, for his guidance and encouragement, patron

patronesses, and advisers, for their unwavering moral and financial support to the foundation
Also a patron, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde on behalf of the Executive Director of the foundation, commended the instructors, mentors, and facilitators who worked tirelessly to equip the 48 trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their chosen trades.
"I urge you to remember that this opportunity is not just about acquiring skills; it is about building a better future for yourselves and for our communities", he charged
The patron lauded the collaboration of duo of Princess Asanot Bello Consulting and Arkan Concepts with the foundation in ensuring the successful completion of the skills acquisition programme
Similarly Keynote Speaker, Abdulateef Ayilara , a Director in the Ogun State Waste Management Agency encouraged the trainees to always upgrade their skills to be more relevant in their respective trades or businesses
He emphasized the importance of registering their business name with Corporate Affairs Commission and setting targets for the growth of their businesses through a well thought out plan to actualize such business goals
Also a National leader of the foundation, Alhaji Yusuff Adelakun stressed the need for the graduands of the CBT programme to ensure proper branding of their products to attract more patronage locally and internationally
He equally urged them to key into the Business Plan competition of the foundation to attract grant ranging between N200,000 and a million naira to support their respective businesses to grow
Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Damilola Basiru and Taofeek Kolawole Salako on behalf of the trainees promised to make good use of the acquired skills to create more jobs and wealth while appreciating Princess Asanot Bello for providing quality free training during the programme
High point of the event included presentation of Certificate of Appreciation to Princess Asanot Bello and Alhaji Anifowose of Arkan Concepts for providing the needed technical support and ensuring hitch-free training programme through out the Capacity Building Training programme for the 48 trainees
Certificates and Cash awards of the N20,000 were presented to each of the outstanding graduands while N5,000 Cash each were also given to other trainees
In another development Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation held separate support programme for the aged between 65 years and above where they were admonished on how to use their old age as a grace period to be closer to Allah in their worship as Muslims and how to maintain healthy lifestyle by eating moderately and going for regular medical checkup
