Coalition of Registered Political Party Members (CORPAM) has thrown its full weight behind the second term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with a formal launching of a support group, 'Emi lokan 2027' to mobilize support of Nigerians for his reelection in 2027.
The Coalition equally inaugurated the Southwest Chapter of the support group during the official launch ceremony, held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital
The Convener and National Coordinator of CORPAM, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, said that the launch of 'Emi Lokan 2027' was to rally massive support for President Tinubu, saying Nigerians have no better choice than to vote for him in 2027 to ensure the completion of the ongoing reforms targeted at fixing and repositioning economy in the country for greatness
The National Secretary of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), noted that members and chieftains of registered political parties decided to come together and float the support group for the president as a result of the positive effects of his Renewed Hope Agenda on the country's economy.
Oginni added that the support group was also to reenact the audacity of courage exhibited by Bola Ahmed Tinubu when his ambition to become the President of Nigeria about three years ago was hanging in the balance.
The choice of Abeokuta to launch the support group was deliberate according to him, because it was the location where the president invoked the ancient political spirit of Abeokuta to make a declaratory statement of 'Emi Lokan' (it is my turn) June 2, 2022.
"Permit me to say here unequivocally that the spirit of Oduduwa and Egba ancestors positively entered Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and and like a possessed prophet of God Almighty made the declaratory statement that we all gathered here across political divides to celebrate today.
"We are here once again in Abeokuta to invoke the same 'Emi Lokan' spirit that gave Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu victory in 2023, to ensure continuity of the great job he is doing. And with the collective support of everyone across political divides, it is possible to return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria President in 2027 with massive votes.
"Without prejudice, it is clear that God and the spirit of our ancestors are behind the continuous success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, therefore, it is very important for all well-meaning Nigerians to join hands together for a successful eight-year tenure of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a greater and better Nigeria of our dreams", Oginni stated.
He, however, declared that any political coalition against the reelection of President Tinubu in 2027 is an effort in futility,
"The likes of Mark, Amaechi , Atiku and Aregbesola are the real enemies of Nigerian masses. The true and genuine coalition being launched today by CORPAM is premised on the fact that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is able and capable to take Nigeria to the promised land with the support of all and sundry", the NNPP National Secretary maintained.
Similarly a Real Estate Consultant, Rotimi Babajide in his lecture, argued that four years are not enough to fix the damage that has been done to the nation, hence the need to ensure the president is reelected in 2027, declaring "there is no alternative to Tinubu".
He likened Tinubu to be a builder and town planner, who is using his first term in office to rebuild Nigeria's faulty foundation, saying the incumbent president has the political expertise and wherewithal to revamp and transform the country, if he is reelected for a second term.
Also on his part, Architect Kola Ogunleye, an aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, says there is no Nigerian leader in the last two decades who has been able to take the bold step to liberalize the economy like Tinubu has done.
While noting that leadership is not a popularity contest, but the ability to take practical decisions to make positive changes, Ogunleye added that the president is working assiduously to stop the socioeconomic bleeding in the country.
He said that the petroleum subsidy removal and liberalization of dollars done by the President Tinubu-led administration has really helped to stabilize the nation, which according to him, was on the brink of collapse.
In his remarks, Ayo Olubori, a former Commissioner in Ogun State, urged Nigerians not to be swayed by the antics and political shenanigans of politicians in the coalition against the president.
Olubori, who is the Patron of 'Emi Lokan 2027', said that President Tinubu is taking Nigeria through the tunnel of change, expressing optimism that the country will soon celebrate light at the end of the tunnel.
"President Tinubu is a true democratic leader and he means well for the nation. I am optimistic that the discomfort Nigerians are going through because of the rebuilding of the country by the president, will begin yeild beneficial fruits very soon. Therefore, we must give massive support to his reelection in 2027 so that he can consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda", Olubori submitted.
