Wives of members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have donated food and household items to orphans at the Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home in Abeokuta to mark the second anniversary of the State 10th legislature.
The donation, which included rice, indomie noodles, sugar, mattresses, and other essential household items, were meant to commemorate their spouses’ milestone and in recognition of their contributions to the development of the State.
Leading the delegation, the Wife of the Speaker, Dr. ( Mrs.) Olayinka Elemide said the visit was part of their tradition, just as they did the previous year, to show appreciation and support to the less privileged in the State, thanking God for the peace and progress in the State and within the House of Assembly.
She added that the gesture was a show of solidarity and support for their husbands’ service to the State.
“We do this to thank God for the progress of the State, the unity in the House, and to reaffirm that we stand by our spouses as they serve the people,” Elemide stated.
She also commended the staff of the orphanage home and the Ministry of Women Affairs for their dedication to the well-being of the children and encouraged the children to remain focused and trust in God.
Responding, Mrs. Adebukola Idowu, Head Aunty at the Home, appreciated them for their consistent support and love for the children.
