Ogun Assembly Lauds Finance Ministry's Mid-Year Budget Performance, Tasks State Internal Revenue Agency On Improved Revenue

Ogun State House of Assembly has lauded the State Ministry of Finance for surpassing its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target for the mid- year performance, even as it charged the State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) to intensify efforts towards exceeding its 2025 revenue target.

The Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi leading other members, gave the commendation during the 2025 mid-year budget performance appraisal at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Chairman, in company of his co-lawmakers including Honourables Damilare Bello, Dickson Awolaja, Babatunde Tella, Folawewo Salami and Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye applauded the Ministry for the laudable performance, while urging the management team to sustain the momentum and adopt additional revenue strategies to surpass their annual target. 

Also, the lawmakers while acknowledging the State Internal Revenue Service mid- year achievements, tasked the OGIRS to step up efforts to exceed its target for the financial year by December in order to offset the shortfall recorded in the first half of the year.

Earlier in his presentation, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Alhaji Muftau Towolawi presented a 52% revenue performance for the period under review, expressing gratitude to the House Committee for the commendation and assured that the Ministry would continue to work diligently to improve on its revenue generation to support the actualization of the State development agenda.

On its part, the State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), represented by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs A. A. Okunronmu, presented 80.69% revenue performance, pledging to work diligently to surpass the achievement within the remaining six months.
