Ogun State House of Assembly has issued a fresh summon to the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya and his counterpart in Environment, Dr.Ola Oresanya and other heads of allied agencies under the Ministry of Environment, following their failure to appear before the State Lawmakers for an interface on the assessment of State road infrastructure across the State.
Speaker of the house, Right Honourable Oludaisi Elemide, issued the summon while presiding over a meeting with the heads of invited Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government which had in attendance the Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Public Works Agency (OGPWA), Engr. Akeem Adesina and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Yusuf Lateef.
He warned that failure to honour subsequent meeting slated for Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 2.00pm prompt, the Assembly would not hesitate to invoke its constitutional power to compel them to attend
He stressed that the State Lawmakers needed to be adequately informed of government efforts and the level of ongoing road projects across the State.
The Lawmakers during the legislative parley, had discussion on the progress reports of ongoing road projects in their constituencies, with a consensus for immediate actions on roads that needed reconstruction or rehabilitation.
The lawmakers, including the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi, Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye, as well as Honourables Adegoke Adeyanju, Oluseun Adesanya, Babatunde Tella, Folawewo Salami, Samsideen Lawal, Waliu Owode and Musefiu Lamidi, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun led-administration's efforts on road infrastructure, demanding more efforts on road rehabilitation and reconstruction in their various constituencies.
In another development, the House Committee on Justice, Ethics, and Public Petitions, chaired by Hon. Oluseun Adesanya, issued invitations to Salini Nigeria Limited and other key stakeholders involved in the Lagos Waterworks project at Akute, Ifo II State Constituency.
The directive followed a meeting at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, between residents of the affected communities and officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Environment at the instance of the Committee, with an observation by the House Committee that the meeting ought to have included the contractor and other relevant parties.
It would be recalled that a petition submitted by the Baale Akinosi Area Community Development Council, alleged environmental degradation caused by a Lagos State Government Water Pipeline project, impacting communities along Akute, Baale, Alausa and Oke-Aro.
