Speaker of the Ogun House of Assembly, Right Honourable , Daisi Elemide on Monday joined millions of Nigerians and the international communities to mourn the death of former President Muhammad Buhari who passed on at the age of 82 on Sunday, just as he
paid tributes to the Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Kayode Adetọna , whose death was announced hours later on the same day
Elemide in a statement by his media aide, Kunle Idowu, acknowledged the contributions of the late Ex President in transforming the Country and upholding the tenets of fairness, justice and discipline.
He recalled his introduction of the War Against Indiscipline, the fight against Corruption and his simplest ways of life while he was alive .
Elemide affirmed that the successful fight against terrorism in the North East and the war against bandits, saying that the late Muhammadu Buhari lived a fulfilled life, served Nigeria energetically as a military man, and also dedicated his life in various capacities before he finally became the civilian President of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023”.
“A man of principle and commitment, he embodied the virtues of labour. He was accommodating but firm and decisive.”

Similarly, the Speaker described the 65-year reign of Oba Adetọna as the longest in the history of Nigeria's traditional institution, saying the first class monarch in Ogun State was one of the oldest in Yorubaland at the age of 91
The Speaker noted that the monarch was one of the most disciplined and highly referred traditional rulers in the country ,noting that the mornach made great impact in transforming traditional institutions in Yorubaland and Nigeria in general.
“Oba Adetọna was a great King who made remarkable impacts during his reign, he upheld culture and tradition while the annual Ojude Oba initiated during his reign was regarded as the best festival in the world, the Speaker said.
"My thoughts are with the entire people of Ijebulandwith this great loss which to me is very saddening ,as I remember my relationship with the Awujale who was a father a mentor and my pillar of support" the Speaker noted.
He commiserated with the Ogbagba family and Ijebu people, while extending condolences to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, saying the vacuum created by the Awujale would be difficult to fill.
