The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of two new full-time undergraduate programmes at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The academic programmes include Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Ed.) Music Education*; and Bachelor of Education*(B.Ed.) Social Studies and Civic Education*.
Deputy Registrar/Coordinator, Centre for Information, Public Relations of the university, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile who made this known in a statement obtained by Edu-biznews, said that the approval was conveyed in a letter dated 17th July 2025, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Mr Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary
She explained that the accreditation followed a recent resource verification visit to the University by panels of experts tasked with assessing the availability of human and material resources for the proposed programmes.
According to the letter, the approval covers full-time delivery mode only.
The commission urged the University to provide adequate human and material resources to ensure the development and sustainability of the programmes in line with national academic standards.
The approval marks another milestone in the University’s ongoing drive to expand its academic offerings and improve access to quality teacher education.
