Management of one of Nigeria's foremost faith-based secondary schools, Aminat International College in Abeokuta in the Ogun State capital has lauded the exceptional results of its graduating class of 2025 in this year's Unified Tertiary institutions Matriculation Examination (UTME) , despite the massive below average performance recorded by over 1.9million candidates who wrote the examination across the country
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had in its breakdown of candidates' results released in May, 2025, said over 1.5 million, representing 78.5 percent of the total candidates scored below 200 out of the total 400 mark while only 334,560 candidates representing 17.11 percent scored 200 and above with just 7,658 candidates representing less than one percent( 3.76)of the candidates scored 300 and above
But the Principal of AICA, Alhaji Mukaila Anifowose in his welcome address marking the 25th end of the session of the institution and 20th valedictory service for both the graduating classes of Senior Secondary School and Junior Secondary School, revealed that all the candidates presented by the school for this year's UTME recorded impressive scores with some of them scoring above 300 mark
"It is satisfying to note that all our students who took the just concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME have impressive results", he disclosed
Over the years AICA according to him, has built solid reputation which has grown far beyond its immediate environment
"The College had contributed a grant deal offering quality educational services and inculcating the ideal legacy of knowledge and character to our students"
He charged the graduating class of 2025 to sustain the culture of hard work, diligence and integrity they imbibed while in the school in the last six years
"For you to be successful in life, you must be determined, focused , goal oriented and prayerful. Your attitude to your studies will determine your altitude in life. Therefore, cultivate the right attitude, watch the kind of friends of friends you keep, because evil association corrupts good manners
The principal was full of appreciation to the representative of proprietor of the college, Alhaji Sheriff Yusuff for the financial support and continuous positive contributions of Parents/Teachers Association (PTA), as well as the teaching and non-teaching to the lives of the students in the school
The Chief Imam of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Imam Ahmad Mahmud while delivering
the school's 2025 Valedictory Service Lecture titled "Citizenship and Foundation Challenges, emphasized the importance of empowering the youths through quality civic education and awareness about governance processes and institutions and implementation of reforms that address institutional and systemic barriers
Doing these according to the Islamic cleric will properly equip the youths in the country to fully participate in the citizenship and contribute to the development and growth of their communities and nation at large
Chairman of the event, Alhaji Ogunsola of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, enjoined the graduating class of 2025 to be make good use of knowledge gained from the lecture delivered by being focused, disciplined to actualize the ambition of furthering their education at higher institutions of learning
He encouraged them to always be good ambassadors of Aminat International College Abeokuta and their parents by sustaining the school's rich tradition of academic excellence
Similarly, Chairman of the school's management, Alhaji (Imam), Abdur-Razzaq Abdul-Azeez , enjoined them to always sustain the school's track record excellent performance at both the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations being conducted by the West African Examination Council and National Examination Council
He prayed for members of the graduating class to achieve more successes as they move on to secure admission into higher institutions of learning to further educationally pursuits while appreciating the entire teaching and non-teaching staff for their commitment to the growth of the school
Pioneer Chairman of Board of Governors of AICA , Dr. T. M Salisu recalled with nostalgia, the humble beginning of the school through its late founder, Chief Surajudeen Adisa Yusuff, popularly known as Moore , 25 years ago and how the school got to its permanent site at Osara Road , Gbonagun, Obantoko , Abeokuta, within Odeda Local Government Area of the state
High point of the event included special presentation of gift by PTA of the school to one of the teachers, Mr. Fatai Egunleti for his dedication to the growth of the school
Prizes were also given to students in various classes for their outstanding performances including the overall best graduating student, Roqeebat Adeyemi and Rodiah Kareem who won all the available academic prizes in the 17 subjects at the Junior Secondary School graduating class
The event was also spiced up with chorography and cultural dance displayed by students
Roqeebat Adeyemi later delivered her valedictory speech as the overall best graduating student for the 2024/2025 academic session , urged fellow class mates to always be role models by reflecting the teachings of Islamic education acquired in the school
"As we leave the four walls of this noble institution, let's remember that true education is not just grades but character. Let us step into the world with integrity, humility and firm belief that whatever we do, we do for the sake of Allah", she admonished
She urged them to be courageous, so as to overcome the challenges ahead in the further journey in their academic pursuits
Donations ranging between 100,000 and N10,000 were also announced by various invited guests to support the more provision of physical infrastructure in the school
