LASU Moves Against Indecent Dressing, Begins Awareness Walk On Campus

The entire community of Lagos State University will this Monday June 2, 2025 hold awareness walk to discourage all forms of indecent dressings on campus, as part of strategic measures being taken to ensure sanity in the institution 

The awareness walk as approved by the management of the university, takes off by 9:00 a.m prompt , at the institution's  main gate at the Badagry Expressway end of the campus 

Those taking part in the awareness walk include , the Students' Union representatives comprising of the Students' Executive Council, Parliamentary Council and its Functionaries, Students' Judicial Council, Students' Union Task Force and all Faculty Association Executives

All Participants according to a notice obtained by Edu-Biznews, are expected to be punctual, properly dressed, and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the ideals and values of the university 

Meanwhile the  Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibilola Olatunji-Bello has expressed concern over she described as continuous disregard for the University’s rules and regulations on indecent dressing by students 

The Vice-Chancellor therefore directed 

Provost, Deans, Heads of Departments and Faculty Officers to ensure decent dressing among students within their various College/Schools/Faculties;

She mandated all lecturers  to deny any indecently dressed students from attending lectures, warning that any student who violates the dress code in the University will be sanctioned accordingly

The Vice-Chancellor listed the below stated modes of dressing  as forms of indecent dressing among students of Lagos State University:

1. Wearing transparent dresses, mini and skimpy skirts/dresses, and other clothes revealing sensitive parts of the body.

2. Wearing tattered, dirty jeans with holes or obscene subliminal messages.

3. Wearing “baggy”, “saggy”, “yansh”, “ass level”, and any other form of indecent trousers.

4. Wearing of tight fitting apparels; wearing clothes that reveal sensitive parts of the body.

5. Wearing shirts and tops with obscene, obnoxious or seductive inscription.

6. Wearing shirts without buttons, improperly buttoned, rolling of sleeves or flying collar.

7. Wearing of face caps or complete covering of face (very dark glasses).

8. Piercing of body and tattooing.

9. Wearing of ear rings and necklace by male students.

10. Wearing of nose ring, very big dropping ear rings and necklaces by students.

11. Wearing of distractive knocking shoes like stiletto heels to lecture rooms and the Library. 

12. Plaiting, weaving or bonding of hair by male students.

13. Wearing of slippers.

14. Wearing of lousy, unkempt, extremely bogus hair or coloured artificial hair, brightly tinted hair/eye lashes/brown, fixing of long eye lashes, artificial dreadlock.

15. Fixing of long nails.
