Remo Stars Celebrate Founder, Soname's 59th Birthday With Historic NPFL Title In Ikenne-Remo





It was a double celebration for Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo who clinched historic Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title for the 2024/2025 season on the 59th birthday of its founder, Hon.Kunle Soname celebrated on Sunday 

Adedayo's lone strike in the 84th minute was enough for the Skye Blues Stars in a week 35 crucial match against visiting Niger Tornadoes of Minna played at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State 

The Daniel Ogunmodede tutored side won their first ever Nigeria's top flight league title with 68 points with three matches to spare, following the team's 10 points clear lead ahead of the closest rivals, Rivers United of Port Harcourt who remained in the second position with 58 points, following the Coach Finidi George's side loss to home team, Kano Pillars who defeated them 2-0 on Friday, courtesy  of goals from former Super Eagles' captain, Ahmed Musa in the 64th minute and old war horse, Rabiu Alli's penalty in the 76th minutes in the match played in Kano 

The defeat by the seventh placed 
Pillars with 50 points, has thrown open, the race for  the CAF Clubs Champions League's second ticket, following a 3-1 win by Abia Warriors against Shooting Stars of Ibadan in Umuahia 

Abia Warriors now moved closer on the third spot with 56 points, just two points behind  the second placed Rivers United while Shooting Stars are still in the 11th with 48 points 

Ikorodu City of Lagos who are seeking CAF Confederation Cup second ticket,  dropped from third spot to  the fourth position with 53 points, after their loss to home side, Akwa United who won 2-1 in Uyo but still remained in the relegation water in the 18th position with 41 points 

Enyimba International of Aba climbed to the fifth position with 52 points after their 2-1 win away from home against host, Enugu Rangers who dropped to the eight position with 49 points 

Bendel Insurance.f are next in the sixth position with 50 points after their loss to 2--1  to Plateau United in Jos who are currently in the tenth positions with 48 points 

Bayelsa United of Yenegoa are occupying ninth position with 49 points on the table after hard earned 2-1 win against visiting El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri who are occupying 16th position with 43 points 

Kwara United were on rampage on Sunday, thrashing already relegated team Lobi Stars 4-0 , to occupy the 12th position with 47 points , closely followed in the 13th position with 46 points by Nasarawa United of Lafia who narrowly defeated hard-fighting Heartland of Owerri who are still battling to escape from being relegated in the 17th position with 42 points 

Sunshine Stars of Akure are still struggling to survive relegation in the 19th position with 41 points, despite their 2-0 win against visiting Katsina United who are occupying 14th position with 44 points at the end week 35 round of matches 

Remo Stars will representing Nigeria as league champions in the CAF Champions League, come next season 

The Skye Blues Stars have been the most consistent side in the domestic league in the past three seasons, having finished in the third and second positions respectively in the two previous seasons, before emerging as champions in the outgoing season, the only team to have achieved such feat in 25 years in South West zone of the country
