Rangers Beat Remo Stars 2-1, Return To Top Three In NPFL As Shooting Stars Fall To Heartland In Owerri





Defending champions,Enugu Rangers returned to the top three spots in the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL, after ending Remo Stars of Ikenne Remo eight-match unbeaten run in a 2-1 win recorded in a week 24 match played on Sunday in Enugu 

Goals from Johnson Saviour and Madufuro in 30th and 49th minutes respectively gave the home side major advantage before Hadi Haruna reduced the tally in the 89th minute for the visiting Remo Stars who are still at the summit of the league with 48 points, despite the loss while Rangers moved to the third position with 38 points 

Similarly Shooting Stars of Ibadan remained in the second position with 40 points, eight points behind leaders, Remo Stars, after their back to back losses in the league to home side , Heartland Fc who won 2-1 to move to the 12th position with 32 points 

Rivers United of Port Harcourt dropped to the fourth position with 38 points, after a lone-goal loss to home side, Enyimba International of Aba who are now occupying 11th position with 34 points 

Abia Warriors are on the fifth spot with 36 points after losing to Kano Pillars who were playing at home in a week 24 encounter 

With the win, Pillars are occupying eight position with 35 points behind sixth placed Ikorodu City and seventh placed Kwara United of Ilorin with the same number of points but with a better goals difference 

The visiting Ikorodu city held relegation threatened Nasarawa United of Lafia to a barren draw, leaving the home side in the 18th position with 26 points while Kwara United of Ilorin won 1-0 against Bayelsa United of Yenegoa who are occupying 15th spot with 29 points 

El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri further dropped to the ninth position with 35 points, after their 2-0 loss to the home team, Plateau United of Jos who are currently battling to survive relegation in the 16th position with 28 points 

Bendel Insurance continued resurgence on the table with emphatic 3-0 win against visiting Niger Tornadoes, as they moved to the tenth position with 34 points while the visitors are in the 13th position with 31 points 

Bottom placed Lobi Stars of Markudi with 22 points played one-all draw with the visiting Katsina United who are occupying 14th position with 30 points while Sunshine Stars of Akure managed a lone-goal win against Akwa United of 
Uyo , as both sides battled to survive relegation 

Sunshine Stars are in the 17th position with 27 points while Akwa United are behind in the 19th position with 23 points , after round of week 24 matches
