Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University Ojo, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello and management of the institution have met with leadership of the 35th Students' Union Executive Council of the university (LASUSU) led by the Acting Dean of the Students Affairs Division, Dr Abiodun Fatai-Abatan
The Vice-Chancellor of the university during the meeting held on Monday at the Vice-Chancellor's Conference Room on the 6th floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, assured the students that despite Lagos State University being one of the least expensive universities in the country, her administration has no immediate plans to increase tuition fees.
she urged students to support the university by ensuring timely payment of their fees at the meeting which marked the first official engagement between the university management and the student leaders since the latter's inauguration in December 2024.
The Vice-Chancellor also called on the student leaders to remain steadfast in resisting any external influences that could disrupt the university's peaceful environment.
She however ,urged them to take full advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that all students whose applications had been approved should proceed with registration for the new academic session, as the university has already received their payments.
She also encouraged students who had yet to apply for the scheme to do so, highlighting it as their right as Nigerian students.
During the meeting, the student leaders expressed their appreciation for the Vice-Chancellor’s responsive leadership and presented several requests on behalf of the student body.
The meeting was attended by other members of the university management and staff.
