Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has unfolded plan of his administration to inject fresh 10,000 teachers to teach in public schools as he declared a state of emergency in the education sector.
Yusuf revealed the plan while distributing educational materials to schools where he also awarded scholarship to students and provided soft loans to teachers over the weekend
At the event, the governor announced that the state government had already recruited over 5,000 new teachers to compliment the existing teachers
He added that 1,000 classrooms would be constructed across the 44 local government areas in the state.
The steps being taken by the government is to address the disturbing trend of out of school children in the state, which according to
the United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF), is put at about a million as at October 2023.
Governor Yusuf declared the state of emergency in the sector ,with the aim of delivering quality education in the state
