Admission Racketeering: Ogun Assembly Asks Nursing School's Applicants To Be Wary Of Fake Websites

Ogun State House of Assembly has called on the State Ministry of Health to caution prospective applicants seeking admission into its Colleges of Nursing spread across the state to be wary of some fake websites extorting money from them.

Speaker of the house, Right Honourable  Oludaisi Elemide, made the call at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, shortly after the Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye raised the issue under matter of urgent public importance, saying he received calls from his constituents, whose wards were victims of some cloned sites on the internet pretending to be the institution's website, during the process of application into the school of nursing

The Speaker advised parents and guardians of prospective applicants to be careful by ensuring that they seek clarification from the Ministry of Health before proceeding on the admission process for their wards, noting that the fake site was one of the challenges of Information and Communication Technology.

Earlier in his presentation, the Minority Leader stressed the need for the management of the Ministry to educate prospective applicants on features of the original website of the institution, counselling the applicants to link up with the Ministry to inquire about the admission process and avoid any form of online financial transactions on the fake site.
