The maiden Nigeria Public Relations Week holding in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital between April 22 and 26, 2024 has continued to attract media support with the State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) 90.5Fm, the State Correspondents Chapel and National Orientation Agency (NOA), NTA Abeokuta joining the growing list of media partners who have assured the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) of a massive media campaign for the event
General Manager of OGBC, Mrs Toyin Sogbesan, State Chairman of the State Correspondents Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr.Rasaq Ayinla and that of the State Director of NOA, Mr.Kolawole Obadina and General Manager of NTA Abeokuta, Mr.Kehinde Onada in their separate remarks gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abeokuta, while hosting Chairman of PR and Stakeholders Sub-Committee for the major international event, Mr.Akin Okudero and his members of media team who had earlier received similar media support from OGTV, RockcityFM, Sweet FM, Fresh FM and Splash FM all in Abeokuta in addition to Chanel Television, Arise Television, TVC and Radio Nigeria amongst others in Lagos
They lauded the initiative to use the Public Relations technique of reputation management to reposition the struggling Nigeria's economy for greatness with various activities for the weeklong event
The event according to Okudero, a fellow of the institute, will include interactive session with students of Mass Communication Department from tertiary institutions in Ogun, Oyo and Lagos States , in addition to interactive session with traditional rulers on how to reposition their respective domains, using the technique of reputation management to ensure mutual understanding with their people and attract meaning Corporate Social Responsibility (CSP) capital projects from corporate organizations with the aim of fast tracking development of infrastructure within their communities
The former council member of NIPR added that the event would be used to provide opportunities for over 2,000 PR professionals in Africa to interact among themselves and meet with prospective clients
Okudero also stated that the event would be used to promote tourism potentials of Abeokuta , particularly showcasing the beauty of Adire fabric and provide opportunity for delegates to visit historic tourist places in the city and special facility tour to Ogun Agro Cargo International Airport In Iperu-Remo, Ikenna Local Government Area of the State
The event is expected to be declared open by Governor Dapo Abiodun while his deputy, Engr(Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele will be closing the event slated for magnificent June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta
Top government's functionaries, including Finance and Co-ordinating Minister for Economy, Mr. Wale Edun and Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso would be among participants at the event being coordinated by Chairman of National Planning Committee of NIPR, Chief Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, a former president of African Public Relations Association
