Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the appointment of Dr. Taiwo Lasisi, as Acting Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, replacing Prof.Kazeem Adebiyi whose tenure in office expires on Sunday,24th March, 2024
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Salihu Adelabu who stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, explained that Lasisi would serve in the acting capacity, beginning from Monday, 25th of March to 25th September, 2024
The State Government according to the statement, looks forward to Lasisi's spirit of hardwork, diligent, and professionalism in actualizing the mission of the institution
Lasisi is seen as a committed academic with vast experience in applied sciences with specialized skills in statistics for national development
The Acting Rector until now is a former acting Head of Department of University of Technology, Ogbomoso, former Dean of Students Affairs , Director of Academic Planning and Control Unit of The Polytechnic Ibadan among other administrative responsibilities
Lasisi is a holder of both Bachelor and Master's Degrees in Statistics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and later proceeded to the University of Botswana , South Africa for his Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in Statistics (Time series Analysis)
He also belongs to two foremost social cultural groups in Ibadan solidarity and Ibadan Action Council, both are affiliates
of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCl)
Edu-Biznews recalls that the Institution branch of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) had during the week at a news conference pleaded with Governor Makinde to restrict the appointment of the new Rector to Internal Chief Lecturers of the institution
