Renewed Hope Conditional Cash:Ogun Govt, FG Begin Training For LGA Facilitators

 

Federal Government and Ogun State Government Cash Transfer Unit have kick-started enrolment training for facilitators of the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer initiative in the state, as part of measures to ease the current hardship caused by economic reforms in Nigeria 

The State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mrs. Funmilayo Efuwape who was declaring the training open in Abeokuta, 

said the training was coming ahead of the disbursement of the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (RH-CCT) to the vulnerable in the state

She explained that the training would enable the facilitators to have prerequisite knowledge and skills needed to sensitise the communities and beneficiaries for the enrolment of the poor and vulnerable households into the RH-CCT programme. 

          

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Lateef Benson, Mrs. Efuwape appreciated President Bola Tinubu for the initiative, saying it was different from the previous CCT programme which only covered six out of the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State.

“Before now, we used to have an epileptic cash transfer to the beneficiaries and only 6 LGAs were taken but with President Tinubu, the programme is now scaled up to all the 20 Local Government Areas of the state”.

“I am delighted because this programme is aimed at alleviating poverty, touching the vulnerable and also poorest of the poor”, she said.

She urged the facilitators to equip themselves with good communication skills to help them interact professionally with the beneficiaries to avoid hitches in the process and utilise the knowledge gained for the exercise to be successful.

Speaking, the state Programme Manager, Mrs. Funmi Baker, who disclosed that over 90,000 households would benefit from the enrolment, disclosed that each beneficiary would receive N25,000 per circle, urging beneficiaries to utilise the money to make a significant impact on their lives.

She cautioned the facilitators against sharp practices, including extorting money from the beneficiaries before enrolling them, warning that anybody caught in the act would face severe sanctions.

Explaining that the facilitators would be monitored and data base tracked at the national level, the National Enrolment Officer, who trained the facilitators, Muhamad Nur Adam, noted that the essence of the training was to train facilitators on enrolment process and assist potential beneficiaries in opening bank accounts for easy access of the disbursement.
